Nuevo Cante Viejo
This project is dedicated to traditional flamenco singing and showcases Tremendo Hijo and Ezequiel Montoya, two young talents from Triana, an historic neighborhood in Sevilla with deep flamenco roots. On stage they engage in a musical dialogue between the two essential vocal textures of Flamenco: laína or broncínea, castellana or gitana, acompasada or rítmica. While one voice is soft, clear, and well measured, the other responds with a metallic, raw, and intensely rhythmic gitano-style expression. With a striking live performance, this program presents itself as a carefully crafted and thoughtfully structured production, setting itself apart from the traditional flamenco recital through its didactic and immersive character.
